Pin-up actress and former pop star Kym Marsh was among more than 200 guests and celebrities who celebrated the official opening of Hastings in Lytham. Now under new ownership, the recently refurbished eating and drinking house – previously briefly The Sparling and formerly the Hastings Club – threw a party to remember, with flaming torches at the entrance, canaps from award-winning head chef Warrick Dodds, complimentary champagne flowing and music from Fleetwood-based swing singer, Howard Wing.Kym, the Warrington based singer and actress of Hear’Say and Coronation Street fame, took time out to pull pints of The Hastings real ale, which was launched on the night and has been created exclusively for Hastings by the head brewer at Lytham Brewery, James Booker.

“It was great fun to be part of the official opening night with so many people and I enjoyed meeting all the guests,” said Kym. “It’s a stylish venue and Howard’s music definitely gave the evening a top atmosphere.”

Piers Mortimer of independent wine merchants, Corney & Barrow, talked to guests about some of the most exclusive bottles on the venue’s newly re-launched wine list.

Everyone was entered into a prize draw to win an evening meal for four, an exclusive autumnal hamper, or a table for two to enjoy the new Hastings five-course tasting menu. Some lucky guests also came away with goodie-bags complete with bottles of Hastings Ale and samples of Warrick’s chocolate truffles.

Warrick, formerly American Express Young Chef of the Year and head chef at the Michelin-starred Northcote Manor, said: “Our official opening night was everything I’d hoped it would be and more, with guests joining us from far and wide to help the new team toast the success of Hastings.”

“In the last month we’ve re-fitted the bar, re-launched all our menus and re-priced our wine lists. With a renewed commitment to offering something for everyone and only the highest standards of service, we now have a winning formula that’s drawing people from across the region to drink and dine with us – and long may that continue.”

Hastings, on Hastings Place in the heart of Lytham, has been the subject of major investment since being acquired by new owners, Trevor and James Allan, this summer.
