Poulton is bracing itself for the town’s first Beer Festival to be held over this Bank Holiday Weekend.It will featuremore than 80 ales from across the UK including a selection of the North West’s finest.From Bowland brewery, drinkers will be able to sample quality beers such as Headless Pig and the pale bitter Hen Harrier.The Fylde coast’s very own Fuzzy Duck, which this year took over the running of Fleetwood’s Strawberry Gardens pub, will offer its golden coloured single-hop favourite, Cunning Stunt.And Lytham Brewery’s Thatched Best will also be available at the eagerly awaited event.

The ales will be on tap from five pubs in the town – The Grapevine, The Thatched House, The Old Town Hall, The Golden Ball and The Bull.

Vin Hamer, of the Thatched, anticipated that there would be a great deal of interest among real ale fans.

“The posters have been up for weeks and the flyers have been distributed so here’s to a great Bank Holiday weekend,” said Vin. “I expect things to be nice and busy – there’s certainly been a lot of interest expressed in the Ale Trail.”

The four day event started yesterday and a donation from the proceeds will go to the Friends of Vicarage Park. The event has been organised in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Poulton-Le-Fylde.
